About Me
I’m a Data Architect and a Builder with a broad background in business, data science, and data engineering.
From Business Analytics to Data Platforms
I started my career in Data Science, focusing on experimentation and fraud detection. In 2023, I had proposed a hackathon project for improving how user behaviour events are catalogued within Grab. The goal was to solve a real pain-point in figuring out what signals could be used across teams and to scale behavioural analysis and model training.
The project won 1st place in the platform category and opened up an opportunity for me to transition into Data Engineering and Platform Engineering.
Data Foundation, Quality, and Discovery
My skills in product experimentation and data-driven decision making continues to anchor my work in my new role. There have been many 0-to-1 initiatives that I’ve worked on, and I don’t shy away from entering new domains if it is needed to solve a problem.
My recent work involves building a solid foundations for event data collection, discovery, and validation. This includes
-
Event Governance: implementing automated profiling to catalogue over 30k existing events within a single platform — backed by Python, Airflow, and data mining techniques to infer the event schema.
-
Modern Data Ingestion: maintaining a high-scale Golang gateway with Kafka for durabilty, using Flink for real-time transformations, and Spark for compaction and offline workloads.
-
AI-driven instrumentation testing: empowering Developers, Analysts, and Product Managers with an Agent that can walk the app and validate whether there are real issues in user experience and analytics.
DevOps & AI Experiments at Home
Outside of professional production environments, I use my homelab as a sandbox for learning DevOps and tinkering with AI. It’s where I break things so I can learn how to fix them.
My current and hobby projects include:
-
Orchestration: learning Kubernetes through a hands-on K3s setup at home.
-
Automation: integrating Home Assistant containers in K3s.
-
Building with AI: building things at home and publishing it on this blog.
